What is the best way to spend a 10 deposit on the Atlantean Treasures slot?

One of my most often repeated mantras when reviewing slot games is regarding how you should spend your money, particularly if you only have a small amount of cash to play with on a slot game. Chiefly because on games like Atlantean Treasures, or indeed any of the Mega Moolah slots, you can select from a number of different bet sizes to play.

Furthermore, this decision is compounded by the knowledge that the more you bet, then the more chance you have of triggering the Jackpot Bonus Game, which as we all know, is the key to winning one of the four Mega Moolah progressive jackpot prizes available, including that massive Mega Jackpot prize.

In May 2020, three people were lucky enough to experience what it felt like to land that amazing amount of money but for the majority of players, playing games like Atlantean Treasures is more about how best to utilise the cash you have in your account to get the most out of your session. In essence, that boils down to one thing.

How much should I bet when you spin the reels?

For a good while now I have always advised players with a small amount of cash to invest that in the greatest number of spins possible, rather than having fewer spins, but increasing your chances of triggering the Jackpot Bonus Game with a larger value bet. There are sound reasons behind this (which we will explain below), but we wanted to prove that was the case for you.

So, what we did, was take £10 (can be USD, CAD, NZD, EUR) worth of spins on the Atlantean Treasures slot and we have played through that £10 in three ways.

  • 100 Spins at 0.10 per spin
  • 50 spins at 0.20 per spin
  • 25 spins at 0.40 per spin

In each case, we have compiled a video for you to view how each session went so you can see for yourself the way in which altering how much you bet and the number of spins you can play for £10, does affect how much you spend in a session.

Of course, I am aware that this is only a very small sample size. This is not a definitive test and yes, I could have landed a big win on any of the three sessions that could have thrown the results up in the air. However, I do believe that what you will see in the videos is indicative of what generally happens if you choose to play each way with £10 worth of spins (or a similar amount).

We will explore the reasons for this after we have reviewed how each session went. For each session, we used the Autoplay feature to ensure that we played the exact number of spins in each session for the test.

Before you read on, consider whether you think that playing one way would be likely to more beneficial to you than the others. Or does it not matter which way you play?

To begin the sessions, which I played consecutively, I had £88.24 in my account balance.

Session One - 100 Spins at 0.10 per spin

  • Starting Balance - £88.24

While I didn't land a massive win in this initial session on Atlantean Treasures, the 100 spins gave me enough leeway to land the Expanding Wilds enough times to trigger a couple of bigger value wins, as well as more chance at landing those all-important Bar and Lucky 7 wins, which contribute so much to your overall success or failure on the game.

As you can see, by the end of the session, I had recorded a small profit since I started and that was chiefly down to the couple of bigger value wins I landed during the session.

  • Finishing Balance - £91.33 (£3.09 profit)

I then switched the betting amount to 0.20 per spin and then set the autoplay to 50 spins for the next session.

Session Two - 50 Spins at 0.20 per spin

  • Starting Balance - £91.33

This session went very similarly to the opening session, although there were fewer bigger value wins in this session, which meant that I only recorded a small profit overall. Even so, I was happy with that with 50 spins at 0.20 per spin as I had been expecting to make a small loss on the session, so to record even a small profit was pleasing.

  • Finishing Balance - £91.45 (£0.12 profit)

After this I increased the betting amount to 0.40 per spin and set the autoplay feature to 25 spins for the third and final test.

Session Three - 25 Spins at 0.40 per spin

  • Starting Balance - £91.45

This session was notably shorter and as you can see, I didn't trigger any big value wins in this session and although I lost just over half the money I bet, I was still quite relieved that I only made a loss of just under £5. It was also a much quicker session than the other two, simply because the number of spins to play through is so much smaller.

  • Finishing Balance - £86.53 (£4.92 loss)

What does this show us?

As I mentioned previously these results are not definitively a case of what 'will' happen when you play a slot like Atlantean Treasures using the different methods above, the random nature of slots mean that you could play any of the ways listed above and hit a big win at times which would skew the results in that method's favour.

However, I do think that these results are indicative of what would happen most often if you played each of these ways and if we accept that as true, why if we are playing the same slot with all these spins, does it appear paying less per spin offers better long term value?

The answer to that is very simple. Sure, putting up your bet amount from 0.10 to 0.20 or even 0.40 does increase your chances of triggering the Jackpot Bonus game on Atlantean Treasures, however your chances of landing that, especially in so few spins, are still very, very small, regardless of which amount you bet per spin. This would probably be less the case if we compared 100,000 spins at 0.10 spin with 100,000 spins at 0.20 per spin and 100,000 spins at 0.40 per spin, but given that nobody can realistically play through that amount, you have to scale your views and expectations accordingly.

So, what this mean is that any benefit you gain from increasing your bet size in terms of the progressive jackpot prize is so negligible for a £10 spend, that it is significantly less beneficial to the player than having those additional spins on the slot.

That is because the base game plays the same for you regardless of how much you bet per spin and when you realise that, it becomes obvious 100 spins is the much better choice. You have four times as many spins to trigger bigger value wins and the Expanding Wild bonuses than you would for the more expensive 25 spins.

There is also the simple fact that the more spins you play on a slot, the less volatile a session is likely to be, and that is pretty much borne out by the amounts won and lost in each of the sessions (+£3.09 for 100 spins, +£0.12 for 50 spins and -£4.92 for 25 spins)

In terms of prolonging your chance to play, it also makes financial sense to play more spins. 100 Spins gives you double the amount of chances to win of 50 spins and four times that of 25. The money you can win, as evidenced in the sessions above, can mean you get more chances to play at a later date too.

For example, if we had just £10 in our account, then at the end of each session, our balances would have been £13.09 for 100 spins, £10.12 for 50 spins and £5.08 for 25 spins. You can see therefore, that playing 100 spins would also mean I have considerably more cash to spend on my next session, thus I can play more spins then too. With £5.08 in my account, if I played at 0.40 per spin, I would only have enough for 12 spins in the next session. With £13.09, I could play through 130 spins at 0.10 per spin, which is ten times as many.

Of course, this is just one session, so I will repeat this test with all the other Mega Moolah-linked slots and then in a final article, compare how each of the sessions went on each game. It is my contention that we will see a similar outcome across most, if not all, of the other Mega Moolah slots.

Over the next couple of months, we will put that theory to the test and report the results here, with videos to show the sessions in full.
