Presentation
Big Time Gaming have produced some nice looking slots over the years and the Alice in Wonderland slot is certainly one of them. With Wonderland providing the backdrop (including the caterpillar asleep to the left of the reels), the rabbit hole to the right and birdsong playing alongside a pleasant harp-infused tune, the slot looks and sounds fantastic. The reels are central and the main controls are at the foot of the screen.
What is on the reels?
There are ten standard symbols on the reels in the base game, plus a number of bonus symbols which we will look at in more detail in the sections below. The lower value standard symbols are the six playing card symbols which go from the 9 through to the Ace. Each symbol is associated with one of the characters or symbols from the Alice in Wonderland story including a hat, a teapot, the Mad Hatter, the Dodo, Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee and the Cheshire Cat.
Symbols can be single symbols, double or triple in size and a mix of these symbols will appear across the reels. Up to six spaces can be landed on a reel in the initial base game so you can have six individual symbols, three double symbols or two triples or any combination of singles, doubles and triples on the reels.
The higher value symbols are the Green, Blue and Red coloured gemstones and lastly, the Queen of Hearts. She is by far the highest value symbol in the game.
Wins per pay line are small and start at just 0.1x your bet, but you can win across multiple pay lines, which is how these relatively small wins can add up into larger ones on each spin. The maximum win is 25x your bet on a single pay line if you land five of the Queen of Hearts symbols across the reels.
Wild features
There are a couple of Wild bonuses and they start with the Mirror symbol which is the standard Wild in the base game. It can appear on every reel apart from the first and can substitute for all the standard symbols in the game, but not the Scatter, Cupcake or Feature Drop symbols.
The other Wild bonus to look out for is the Caterpillar bonus. When this appears on the reels, up to four additional Wild symbols will be added to the reels. These symbols will increase payout on any wins by 2x or 3x the standard amount and it can also create additional bonus wins, or increase the value of any wins already landed on the reels.
Free Spins features
The Free Spins bonus on the White Rabbit slot are somewhat complicated and a lot can happen. They are triggered initially by landing three of the White Rabbit Scatter symbols on the middle three reels. This will then trigger the bonus round offering you 15 Free Spins initially.
During Free Spins, the White Rabbit disappears from the reels and is replaced with a Cupcake symbol. Each time you land a Cupcake symbol in Free Spins, the symbol will divide into two symbols and the number of symbols on that reel will increase by one. The maximum number of symbols you can have on a reel is 12 and of course, the more symbols you have on each reel, then the greater the number of winning pay lines are possible in the game. This is called the Extending Reels feature.
When you reach 12 symbols on a reel, the Free Spins bonus is re-triggered and you also get something called a Queen's Reel. This reel is different to the standard reels as it features more of the higher value Queen symbols and also more Wild symbols, which offers you a better chance at more wins and also higher value wins.
There is one other feature on the White Rabbit slot which is not really a Free Spin bonus, but which doesn't really fit elsewhere and that is the Feature Drop symbol. When this feature lands on the reels the price of triggering a feature will reduce in price. You can elect to buy the feature offered for the price shown on screen or spin again and hope to land it again to reduce the price further. If you manage to spin the price down to zero, then the feature will automatically trigger. The Feature Drop amount shown is the multiplier of your stake, so if you see 2 shown then to buy the feature would be 2x your total bet.
Best feature of the White Rabbit slot
There are so many features packed into the White Rabbit slot that it is difficult to pick just the one out as the best. Obviously the Megaways feature is a great one for those that like to win any way they can but some of the wins can be very small. For me, the Free Spins round is the real star of the party here. 15 Free Spins is a decent amount but the number of additional bonuses you can trigger here, such as the Extended Reels and the additional Wilds and Queens on the Queen's Reel do make this aspect of the slot the one that is most likely to offer you a big payday. However, you do require patience to hit it.
Conclusion
Alice in Wonderland does seem to be a popular theme in slots given that we had Absolootly Mad released just a short time ago. White Rabbit takes a slightly different part of the book for this slot and does it very well with some nice graphics, some great bonus rounds that cleverly use the key characters in the book (oddly though, not including Alice) and the Megaways game system that is a little marmite, you either love it or hate it. It is rather a complicated slot and can take a bit of getting used to but if Megaways is your thing then there's lots to enjoy here.
You can play White Rabbit slot at any of the Mega Moolah casinos.
