Why it's exciting times for Microgaming Progressive Jackpot players at present

Having paid out an incredible €1.2 billion in prize money to players over the years, the Microgaming Progressive Jackpot Network has become firmly established as the go-to network for progressive jackpot fans.

However, it is one of the most exciting times in the history of the network at present, with a mix of exciting game releases on the horizon, brand new winners and of course, the chance to play an expanding selection of top ranked progressive jackpot slots.

Early 2020 - First batch of new progressives released

Following on from the release of Mega Vault Millionaire at Casino Rewards casinos back at the tail end of 2019, in February 2020 we saw Microgaming release two new Mega Moolah-linked progressives, Atlantean Treasures and Absolootly Mad, with the former already being responsible for a huge NZ$13.6 million jackpot win back in May 2020.

At the same time, the brand new, £2 million seeded progressive jackpot slot Wheel of Wishes was released into casinos, with the promise of Microgaming's largest ever seeded jackpot prize, the newly reworked Wowpot progressive jackpot, plus a minimum £50,000 Major Jackpot too.

With three brand new progressive games released in the space of a few weeks of each other, many thought February would go down as one of the most exciting times for progressive jackpot players, but the events of the last couple of weeks may well have put that into the shade.

August 2020 - News of new games and a big money winner!

August 2020 saw Microgaming make a huge announcement. Not only did it confirm that two new Wowpot Progressive Jackpot slot games, Book of Atem WowPot and Sisters of Oz Wowpot were on the way, but there were also plans to release two brand new Mega Moolah-powered progressives too in the shape of Fortunium Gold Mega Moolah and Juicy Joker Mega Moolah.

The company also announced a brand new African-themed progressive that would offer players a chance to win the £50,000 Major jackpot available on the Wowpot progressive network called African Legends, which is in development by Slingshot Studios and slated for an autumn release date.

Then in the middle of the month, we saw one lucky Swedish player land a national record prize win on an online slot game when they landed the Mega Moolah Progressive Jackpot prize for €14.2 million (146 million SEK)! This was the fifth winner of 2020 and meant that we had now see over 58 million in prize money awarded from the top progressive jackpot prize on the Mega Moolah slot in 2020 alone.

However, just a few weeks after this big money win, progressive jackpot fans were delighted to see the first of the aforementioned new progressive jackpot slots hit casinos at the start of September.

September 2020 - The first of the new progressives arrives and another winner!

September began with a bang with the almost immediate release of the Book of Atem Wowpot slot. This game, which followed on from the original Book of Atem slot released earlier in the year, built upon the original game to include a chance to win any of the four progressive jackpot prizes that are a part of the Wowpot network.

While containing many of the same features of the original release, the new Book of Atem slot allowed players to collect precious stones from the Book of Atem Wilds to offer them a chance of triggering the Jackpot Bonus Game, on which one spin of that wheel will see them win one of the four progressive jackpot prizes.

As yet, we are still awaiting the first Wowpot Progressive jackpot winner and as such, the jackpot has climbed over 6 million at the time of writing. However, there have been a number of Major Jackpot winners, many of whom have won several hundreds of thousands in their chosen currency. You can see more information about these winners on the WheelofWishes.net website.

However, barely had the news of the Book of Atem slot release reached people, when just a couple of days later, the focused shifted back to the Mega Moolah progressive jackpot slot.

That is because on the 6th September at around 7.30am in the morning, one lucky player landed a prize of just over 4 million Canadian dollars on the Mega Moolah jackpot game. This was the sixth big money win on the progressive jackpot network of 2020 and means that the progressive has now paid out over 62.8 million in various currencies throughout the year so far in Mega Jackpot prizes alone.

Progressive fans were barely digesting the release of Book of Atem Wowpot and this new jackpot winner when just a couple of days later, it was announced that the eagerly awaited Sisters of Oz Wowpot slot (watch our video review) would be released this week on Tuesday 8th September.

Part of the "Oz" series of slots by Triple Edge Studios, this new game boasts both a progressive jackpot version, linked to the Wowpot jackpot, and a standard Jackpot game, which offers four fixed jackpot prizes.

This means that in the space of around a week, we have seen the number of options for players to play for the Wowpot progressive jackpot prize treble in size with three games set to be available, all offering a shot at that top jackpot prize.

Future September releases?

While the release of two big progressives in the space of seven days is exciting enough, there is also plenty of speculation about when the next big progressive jackpot slot game will be released by Microgaming with a number of sites and commentators stating that they feel another Mega Moolah slot is set for release in September, with Fortunium Gold being widely touted as being made available to casinos this month.

It is also expected that Juicy Jokers will follow suit soon after, mirroring the quick release of the Absolootly Mad and Atlantean Treasures slot earlier this year. While the African Legends slot, featuring that Wowpot Major jackpot prize, is also being slated for release some time around October or November this year.

So with two big money winners in the space of a few weeks, a host of new games ready to play and many more on the horizon, it has never been a more exciting time to be a progressive jackpot player on the Microgaming Progressive Network.
