Why Queens Park Rangers fans could be future Mega Moolah winners

Queens Park Rangers fans can become Mega Moolah winners

The start of the Football League season is not so far away and after a busy summer of World Cup drama, not to mention all the excitement engineered by players being transferred between clubs over the pre-season, it is no surprise that football fans are now gearing themselves up for the start of a fresh campaign.

For Queens Park Rangers fans, this season will begin with a somewhat familiar name emblazoned across their shirts. Since the start of the 2017/18 season, QPR have had the online casino Royal Panda as their new shirt sponsor and the club is now entering the second year of a three-year-deal they signed with the company 12 months or so ago.

Following the announcement of the partnership last year QPR Commercial Director Euan Inglis spoke to the Queens Park Rangers website about the initiative stating:

"We are absolutely delighted that Royal Panda are on board as our new shirt sponsors from the 2017/18 season.

"A market-leader in the online casino sphere, Royal Panda are joining us at a hugely exciting time, having recently received their Sports Book license, which will launch in the coming months.

"We have a number of exciting initiatives in the pipeline that we are looking to activate around matchdays, which will include various promotions and half-time pitch activities, so the partnership will involve more than simple brand awareness."

Royal Panda's Long Shot Prize

Last season, Royal Panda ran a special prize for QPR fans where if they managed to correctly predict every QPR Match Result, win, lose or draw, in the 2017/2018 Championship season, then they would win a cash prize of £1,000,000.

This competition was free to enter for QPR fans and the company also guaranteed a £5,000 prize for the player who correctly guessed the most predictions without guessing all the results correctly, with a further prize of £1,500 for the runner up.

Those prizes sound tempting but there are some bigger prizes on offer if you are one of those QPR fans that decided to sign up and play at your new club sponsor.

What does Royal Panda offer to UK customers?

As well as starting their own Sports Betting service last year for customers, Royal Panda's core business originally was casino gaming and the company reached agreement with Microgaming to carry its range of slot games on its site in the UK.

So what this means is that if you are a player in the UK, you can access some of the best progressive jackpot slots, as well as a wide range of standard 5-reel and 3-reel games, on the Royal Panda site. Currently available on Royal Panda are the following Microgaming progressives:

  • Mega Moolah
  • Major Millions
  • Cash Splash (5 and 3 reel)
  • Lots A Loot (5 and 3 reel)
  • Treasure Nile
  • Tunzamunni
  • WowPot

Now of course, the keen-eyed amongst you will have noticed that the Mega Moolah slot is among the games offered on the site and this means that players at the casino have a chance to win much more than simply £1,000,000. Play Mega Moolah and you could win a jackpot which starts at £1,000,000 and which can increase far beyond that. For example, as of today (22 July 2018), the jackpot stands at well over £7,500,000.

This is now great news for QPR fans in particular as it means that through their sponsorship deal, not only are they getting access to season-long and weekly club promotions through Royal Panda, but they can also try their hand at winning a massive jackpot prize on the Mega Moolah slot too.

However, it is not just QPR fans that have enjoyed the benefits of a partnership with an online casino or sports betting company in recent times. A quick look through the leagues reveals that many football clubs in the UK have sponsorship deals with gambling sites.

What is clear is that with almost half of all Premier League teams, 17 our of 24 teams in the Championship and the two biggest teams (arguably) in League One, gambling companies are very keen to invest in football and not only that, they want to do so at the highest levels of the game. It is very telling perhaps that no League Two club is sponsored by a gambling company.

Furthermore, for some companies, it is not a one-time investment. Leo Vegas, for example, sponsor both Brentford and Norwich City in the Championship, Red32 actually sponsors five Championship teams (Aston Villa, Derby County, Leeds United, Middlesbrough and Preston North End). SportPesa sponsor Everton in the Premier League and also Hull City in the Championship while both League One teams (Charlton, Sunderland) with these type of sponsors are sponsored by the same company (BETDAQ)

It is also worth remembering that SkyBet sponsors all three of the Football League's Divisions.

When you consider the level of investment for these companies, at the top Premier League teams especially but also at the bigger teams in the Championship and League One level, will usually run into several million pounds over several years, then you can see just how important sponsorship by sports books and online casinos has become in football.

Football and sports betting/online casino sites have always had a close relationship chiefly through sports betting, but as more and more companies become involved in the game, then this relationship will open out more to include other forms of wagering. Football fans are perhaps mow more aware than ever of the options available to themselves online and no doubt there will be more than a few hoping to land that Mega Moolah jackpot win, just as much as seeing their team pick up three points at the weekend.
